Tiger T-63 Chandra Ranthambore National Park

Tiger T-63, affectionately known as Chandra, is one of the prominent male tigers in Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan, India. Born in 2012, he is the son of the famous tigress T-39 (Noor) and a male tiger known as T-25 (Zaalim). Chandra is known for his striking appearance, characterized by his distinct markings and robust physique.

Early Life

Chandra spent his formative years under the watchful eye of his mother, Noor, in the park's rich and diverse environment. Growing up in Ranthambore, he learned essential survival skills, such as hunting and territory marking, from his mother and witnessed the dynamics of tiger life. His early experiences shaped him into a confident and capable young male.

Establishing Territory

As Chandra matured, he began to venture out on his own, seeking to establish his territory. In the highly competitive environment of Ranthambore, he faced challenges from other dominant male tigers. His most significant rival has been T-24 (Ustad), a powerful and well-established tiger. The rivalry with Ustad has been intense, often resulting in confrontations as both tigers sought to assert their dominance over specific zones within the park.

Behavior and Personality

Chandra is known for his inquisitive nature and adaptability. Unlike some other tigers that might be more aggressive, he exhibits a balanced temperament, often displaying caution when interacting with humans. He has become a favorite among wildlife enthusiasts and photographers who visit Ranthambore, drawn to his charisma and beauty. His calm demeanor allows him to coexist with human presence to some extent, making him a regular sight in popular tourist zones.

Notable Incidents

His ability to navigate complex social dynamics within the tiger population has been observed by researchers and enthusiasts alike. One memorable incident involved a close encounter with T-24, where both tigers displayed their strength and prowess. Although there was tension, Chandra managed to maintain his position without sustaining serious injuries.
